The 300

Zach Snyder's epic 2007 film The 300 tells the story of the Battle of Thermoplaye. Principal photography happened entirely on a blue screen stage and the set consisted of only a small portion of the battlefield. This required CG background plates matchmoved to the plate. CG backgrounds consisted of ocean, mountains, rock formations, sky, sun, dust, and haze. This all came together with careful compositing and application of a stylized graphic novel look called the "Crush".
