"300" Smashes Box Office Records

Based on the 480 BC epic story of the battle of Thermopylae between the Spartans and the Persians, "300" is the film adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel. Directed by Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead) the majority of the film was shot on a blue screen stage, the rich backgrounds and intense visuals added in post. Visual Effect houses Pixel Magic and Screaming Death Monkey contributed hundreds of shots for the film.

From set extensions to living smoke, oceans, skies, arrows, shield, swords, helmets and armies, LightWave visual effects artists working with visual effects supervisor Chris Watts brought it all together in the production of "300". Screaming Death Monkey Screaming Death Monkey
Founded in 2004 by Jeremy Hunt, best known for the short 405 the Movie, which he co-directed and co-produced. Screaming Death Monkey contributed a wide range of shots for 300, including the scene of the Oracle girl.

Pixel Magic is an award-winning VFX & 3D animation studio with credits including: Blood Diamond and The Guardian. They created the final battle sequence at the Hot Gates and other outstanding visuals for 300.
